Grøft Design

When Grøft Design® was released to the Norwegian market in 2019, it was the product of a research project that started in 2015. With its innovative approach to planning, design and simulations of cable trenches, Grøft Design® quickly became the preferred software solution in the Norwegian market.

For more than 25 years REN have created guidelines and software tools for the Norwegian power system. REN is owned by the Norwegian grid companies.

Backed by Research

REN have together with SINTEF, Norway's leading research center on power systems, developed and verified the simulations in Grøft Design® with experiments in the field.

About the name

Grøft is the norwegian word for ditch or trench. Simplified writing in English is Groft Design
